Frames are not being used as much as they used to be a few years ago when most web sites were designed with frames. The only bonus of a site using frames is the top and the side frames do not have to reload each time the visitor views a new page, it is only the main page that changes. Frames used to hide the source code but with the new browser updates you can copy the page to your hard drive and view the code anyway. They have always caused a problem with most search engine spiders because they can't read them properly, and therefore don't get indexed correctly. If the frameset is not properly optimised there is a possibility of a visitor opening up pages outside the frameset, and if you find a page you like you won't be able to book mark it
